End of combustion engines from 2035

It's official - the EU Council of Ministers is following the EU Parliament's proposal. As of 2035, this will ban the registration of new vehicles with internal combustion engines. This means that only vehicles that do not emit climate-damaging greenhouse gases will be allowed to be registered. This regulation does not apply to vehicles with internal combustion engines registered before 2035.

Even before the ban on combustion engines, the fleet limits will be tightened. Compared with 2021, these will be reduced

  • by 15 % by 2025
  • by 55% by 2030
  • by 100 % by 2035

These limits affect the manufacturers and relate to the CO2 emissions of the vehicles during operation.

With this decision, the question for you is now no longer whether a switch to e-mobility will take place, but when.
