Mobility is changing. This trend was once again evident at this year's Vienna Autoshow. ALD Automotive Austria was present at the preview day of the popular fair and informed itself about the novelties of the automotive industry.

From January 16 to 19, 2020, the Messe Wien – traditionally the first national motor show of the new year – opened its doors once again to all automotive enthusiasts. 40 brands presented around 330 new car models. In addition to numerous new Austrian models and the European premiere of the Mitsubishi Space Stars, the world premiere of the BMW X1 plug-in hybrid also took place.

The focus of the Vienna Autoshow 2020 was clearly on electric mobility. For the first time, an entire hall was dedicated to this alternative form of transportation. In addition to the numerous e-cars and plug-in hybrids on display, the e-mobility area also provided information about the charging infrastructure, technical progress, the various drive concepts and autonomous driving.

The trend towards increased demand for alternative drive systems is also reflected in last year’s figures. According to Statistics Austria, the total number of car registrations in 2019 fell by 3.4 percent for the second year in a row. The relative growth in newly registered cars with alternative drive systems, however, rose by 56.8 percent compared to 2018.1

More and more companies are also opting for e-mobility in their vehicle fleet due to falling CO2 limits, fluctuating fuel prices and tax benefits. You can find a lot of information on this topic and the integration into your company fleet in our white paper.
