ALD Automotive provided Caritas with an electrifying start to the new year and thus caused great joy. Already at the end of last year, ALD Automotive handed over Klaus Schwertner, the managing Caritas Director of the Archdiocese of Vienna and Josef Heinzl, head of the Canisibus, the key to a brand new, fully electric Opel Vivaro-e.
The electric bus has been part of the Caritas aid fleet since Christmas and helps to bring 180 liters of soup and around 40 kilograms of bread to people on the streets of Vienna every day. For many it is the only warm meal of the day. In total, the volunteer team of the Caritas soup bus gives out around 75,000 portions a year. While the soup is being cooked, the bus can be conveniently charged at the kitchen location for its next use and is then on the road again completely free of emission.
“Not having a home means being exposed to a daily physical and psychological state of emergency. Every day, the volunteers bring warm soup to the people on the street with the Canisibus. Even in times of the pandemic, the Canisibus is in non-stop operation - evening after evening, 365 times a year. This reliability creates trust. This is the basis for accepting further help. We are extremely grateful to ALD Automotive for their generous support. From now on, the electric bus will make reliable help socially and ecologically sustainable”, says Klaus Schwertner, very pleased.
Social commitment is an important part of the corporate culture for ALD Automotive. "Together with our mother, the French commercial bank Société Générale, we regularly support charitable projects and are very pleased to be able to make a small contribution to the valuable work of Caritas with the vehicle", says ALD Automotive Managing Director Martin Kössler about the campaign.
